The platform’s goal is to help users interact regularly and enhance their social connections by uploading portfolios and sharing their professional activities. Stay updated with the latest film industry news. Some of the highlight features we tackled are the ability to: find and connect with industry leaders, make a portfolio and get valuable business leads, upload film, TV, web, and print projects, remarkable social media experiences, follow actors, friends, and companies to learn about the latest news, connect with professional near your location, upload past projects listed on IMDb, including a scalable and sustainable architecture.
The first thought was to solidify Information Architecture. So we took the following steps: conducted a product discovery workshop, performed strategic analysis before jumping into UX design, created multiple moldboards during the brand discovery sessions before diving into the user interface design. After going through the user stories documents, we then moved on to a detailed brand questionnaire for the founder to answer. It was important to the founder that we capture the essence of this product just the way he envisioned it to be. This means, extensive research and studied various approaches that works best for this application. After capturing the mood/the tone, the positioning/perception, we then moved towards visual design. We’ve experimented with the logo and imagery while designing the user interface and created a beautiful design system for them as I moved along.
Here is the list of guidelines we wanted to implement for the project:
The application should allow the users to find friends and peers to add to your network.
Users should be able to check updates of their friend’s activity and can reach out on the app to keep in touch.
Users should be able to upload film, tv, web, commercial or print projects to find the right cast and crew for you.
There must an option to upload past projects that are listed on IMDB.
When I was first approach to work on this project, I was very excited and grateful, because I know this industry that the founder was diving into. I have worked on many projects involving his target users for the app. I had a great discussion with the CEO that was very heart-felt based on the struggle of so many great artists out there where they don’t have a real proper platform that is designed for them to truly thrive on. He wanted to change the film and media industry and I was honored to be a part of that. The app had to be intuitive, modern, easy to use, and comes with all the features that allows all artists/users to connect with each other, work together, socialize, sell their products, and so much more. The gorilla app also had to be personalized, meaning that the design had to be inviting and brings a sense of community in a professional industry. A place where users can make friends and make films. This product is proudly built by artists for artists. From seeking crew, merchandise, general posts, seeking work, seeking investment, chat with friends etc, we captured it all right here in one application.
